Research indicates that in the absence of a local news outlet, governmental inefficiencies tend to increase, and citizens may experience a decline in civic pride, subsequently contributing to further economic downturns.
The vision behind Mid Bay News advocates for a paradigm shift in the news industry, transferring authority from large conglomerates to smaller, community-based enterprises that have built trust and rapport with their target audience. Over time, corporate media entities have predominantly prioritized financial gains for shareholders over the vital role of serving as a guardian for the public interest. Consequently, numerous local media establishments, faced with the economic pressures imposed by industry giants, have either succumbed to integrating into expansive, impersonal networks or succumbed to closure under their immense influence.
